Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw has officially ended his association with the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and is set to represent Maharashtra in the upcoming domestic season. This marks a notable shift in the Indian domestic circuit, as Shaw aims to revive his international career, having already donned the Indian jersey in all three formats.
Over the course of his career, Shaw has featured in 58 first-class matches, scoring 4,556 runs at an average of 46.02, including 13 centuries and 18 fifties. In List A cricket, he has played 65 matches, amassing 3,399 runs at an impressive average of 55.72, with 10 centuries and 14 half-centuries.
Reflecting on the change, Shaw expressed optimism about the move, saying he believes it will aid his development as a cricketer and have a positive influence on his future prospects.
“At this stage of my career, I believe joining the Maharashtra team will help me grow further as a cricketer. I am deeply grateful to the Mumbai Cricket Association for the opportunities and support I have received over the years. Maharashtra Cricket Association has made remarkable efforts in recent years to enhance cricketing infrastructure across the state.”
“Initiatives like the Maharashtra Premier League, Women’s MPL, Corporate Shield, and D.B. Deodhar Tournament are testament to their vision. I’m confident that being part of such a progressive setup will positively impact my journey as a cricketer.”
“I’m happy to get the opportunity to play alongside talented players like Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ankit Bawne, Rahul Tripathi, Rajneesh Gurbani, and Mukesh Choudhary in the Maharashtra team,” Shaw said in a statement.
