Jofra Archer is determined to make a strong comeback for England during the Ashes tour of Australia in November 2025. After battling a series of injuries over the past few years, Archer returned to Test cricket in England’s recent Lord’s Test against India, showcasing his trademark speed and accuracy. The 30-year-old pacer expressed a clear goal: to stay fit and secure a spot in the squad for the high-stakes Ashes series.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Archer said he wants to feature in the remaining two Tests against India and play a significant role in the upcoming Ashes campaign. “I told Keysey (Rob Key, England Men’s Cricket Managing Director) I wanted to be part of the Test summer and the Ashes,” Archer revealed. “That’s one step done, and I’ll give everything to be on the flight in November.”
Impactful Return Against India
Archer’s comeback during the Lord’s Test was a key factor in England taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series against India. His early breakthroughs in both innings, especially dismissing India’s aggressive opener Yashasvi Jaiswal twice, were crucial in England’s narrow victory. His performance not only reminded fans of his 2019 Ashes heroics but also proved he still has the firepower to challenge top-level batsmen.
England’s management, medical staff, and selectors are monitoring him closely, given his injury history, and are working to ensure his workload is managed wisely. Archer emphasized that he feels physically ready and is hoping to maintain his momentum in the remaining Tests, provided the team allows him to continue playing.
Focused on the Bigger Goal
The upcoming Ashes series in Australia will be England’s first in the so-called “Bazball” era—a style of fearless, attacking Test cricket. Archer’s pace and aggression align perfectly with this philosophy, making his availability crucial for the tour. England has not won an Ashes series on Australian soil since the 2010–11 campaign, and having Archer fit and firing could be a game-changer.
His main focus now is to remain injury-free, stay consistent, and maintain his current form. Archer knows that earning a place on the Ashes tour isn’t guaranteed, but his current mindset, fitness, and hunger suggest he’s doing everything he can to be there when England takes on their fiercest rivals in November 2025.
