India’s star cricketer Rinku Singh made an instant impact in the 2025 UPT20 League opener between the Meerut Mavericks and Kanpur Superstars at Lucknow’s Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 17. On his first ball of the season, Mavericks skipper Rinku Singh bowled out Adarsh Singh for just one after his team had posted 225.
The breakthrough came in the fourth over of the Superstars’ chase when Rinku, bowling part-time spin, delivered a fuller ball that beat Adarsh as he shuffled to the leg side for room, knocking back the stumps. The wicket saw Rinku erupt in an animated celebration.

Rinku Singh showcased his bowling skills last year, taking two wickets for just one run in a crucial over against Sri Lanka to help India force a tie before winning the Super Over and sealing the series 3-0. The 27-year-old is a strong contender for India’s T20 Asia Cup 2025 squad, having scored 546 runs in 24 innings at a strike rate of 161.06 with three fifties.
In IPL 2025, he added 206 runs for KKR at a 153.73 strike rate. Overall, he has 3,221 T20 runs in 142 innings, including 17 half-centuries.
Meerut Mavericks Crush Kanpur Superstars By 86 Runs In UPT20 2025 Opener
A dominant batting show backed by disciplined bowling powered the Meerut Mavericks to an 86-run victory over Kanpur Superstars in the 2025 UPT20 League. Put in to bat, the Mavericks piled up 225/2 in 20 overs. Madhav Kaushik starred with a blistering 95* off 31 balls, smashing 10 fours and seven sixes, while Rituraj Sharma added an unbeaten 60 off 36 deliveries.
The pair shared a 130-run stand for the third wicket after Akshay Dubey’s brisk 44 off 26 gave them a strong start. Shubham Mishra and Bobby Yadav chipped in with a wicket each. In reply, the Superstars could only muster 139/9 in their 20 overs. Sameer Rizvi top-scored with 45 off 36, while Priyansh Gautam struck 34 from 20.
For the Mavericks, Kartik Tyagi, Yash Garg, and Vijay Kumar claimed two wickets each, with Vishal Chaudhary, Rinku Singh, and Zeeshan Ansari taking one apiece.
