India’s Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube walked straight into the pavilion, skipping the customary post-match handshakes with Pakistan players, after their commanding seven-wicket victory in the Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue dominated in all departments to secure their second consecutive win of the tournament at Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, September 14.

The Indian captain sealed the chase with a stylish six off spinner Sufiyan Muqeem. While it is customary for players to exchange handshakes at the end of a match, Yadav chose to leave the field immediately, with Dube following suit from the non-striker’s end.

The Pakistan team exchanged handshakes on the field, whereas the Indian players opted to do so inside the dressing room, just beyond the boundary.

Suryakumar Yadav Skips Handshake With Salman Ali Agha At IND vs PAK Toss

A similar situation occurred during the toss, as Salman Ali Agha and Suryakumar Yadav passed each other without exchanging handshakes. The Pakistan captain won the toss and chose to bat, and when it was Yadav’s turn to speak with Ravi Shastri on the field, neither acknowledged the other.

In the match, India managed to restrict Pakistan to just 127, despite Shaheen Shah Afridi’s late blitz of 33 runs off 16 balls. Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel were the stars with the ball, not giving the Pakistani batters much room and picking up key wickets in both the powerplay and middle overs.

During the chase, India’s batters delivered strong performances, with Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma leading the charge. Suryakumar’s stroke-filled innings of 47 off 37 balls, featuring five fours and a six, was capped with a six on the final ball of the innings.

India will next take on Oman in their final group-stage match of the Asia Cup 2025 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Friday, September 19.
