Former West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard has praised MS Dhoni, calling him the greatest cricket captain. Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished skippers in the sport’s history, Dhoni led India across all three formats for nearly a decade.
Dhoni showcased his leadership prowess early on by guiding India to victory in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. Soon after, he took over the captaincy in all formats and went on to build a remarkable legacy, including taking India to the top of the ICC Test rankings for the very first time under his leadership.
India also clinched the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013 under Dhoni’s leadership, making him the only captain in history to win all three major ICC tournaments in limited-overs cricket. His success extends to the IPL as well, where he has guided the Chennai Super Kings to a record-equalling five titles.
Pollard Names MS Dhoni As The Best Captain
In an interview with News24 Sports, the West Indies legend chose the former India skipper as the best captain. Kieron Pollard mentioned that although he never played alongside Dhoni, he has always admired and appreciated his captaincy from a distance.
“Oo, best cricket captain. I’ve never played alongside him, but I’ve seen some of his tactics on the cricket field, and I really enjoyed MS Dhoni. I’ve really enjoyed, I really enjoyed his captaincy from afar, playing against him, being in the middle, seeing his tactics and stuff like that\, I’ve enjoyed that. So, I’ll say, for me, MS Dhoni,” said Kieron Pollard.
Kieron Pollard Hails Rohit Sharma As A Fantastic Cricketer
Kieron Pollard also shared his thoughts on his former IPL teammate Rohit Sharma. Having played under Rohit’s leadership during his successful tenure with the Mumbai Indians, the seasoned all-rounder praised him as a fantastic cricketer and said that Rohit truly deserves every honour and recognition he receives.
“I’ve played Under-19 cricket with Sharma since then, and playing international cricket alongside and against, and playing underneath, I think he’s a fantastic, fantastic cricketer. The records that he has in one-day cricket especially are just phenomenal, and he has led us as our captain to five championship trophies as well,” said Pollard.
“So his stats and everything that he has done have spoken for himself, and I’ve said it before in interviews, he deserves each and every accolade that comes his way, and he deserves, when he decides to call it a day, to call it a day and not be forced out in any way possible,” he added.
