Best known for his historic triple century against England in 2016, the 32-year-old has since failed to cement his place amid stiff competition for batting spots. The most notable addition to the squad is Devdutt Padikkal, who has been rewarded for his excellent form in domestic cricket and red-ball outings. Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been named vice-captain, highlighting his growing leadership role in the team alongside skipper Rohit Sharma.
