[WATCH]- Arshdeep Singh Seals Thrilling Win For India With Heroic Super Over vs Sri Lanka

Team India pacer Arshdeep Singh left Sri Lanka reeling with a sensational Super Over performance in their Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 clash on Friday, September 26. After the match ended in a tie, India emerged victorious in the Super Over. Sri Lanka, chasing 203 for the win, fell just short at 202/5, losing by a single run. Arshdeep Singh was entrusted with the Super Over, facing Kusal Perera and Dasun Shanaka at the crease.

The left-arm pacer made an instant impact, removing Perera on the very first ball. A full delivery outside off-stump induced a slice that Rinku Singh comfortably held at sweeper cover. Kamindu Mendis, who came in next, managed to get Sri Lanka off the mark with a single on the second ball.

Arshdeep followed up with a perfectly executed yorker outside off-stump, which Shanaka failed to hit. After a wide on the next delivery, he bowled another yorker-length ball outside off-stump. Shanaka was initially given out caught behind and was also seemingly run out by Samson’s direct hit at the striker’s end.

However, the UltraEdge review showed no spike. Since he had been given out on the field, the ball was ruled dead, and Shanaka avoided the run-out. Still, Arshdeep struck on the fifth delivery, as Shanaka was caught by Jitesh Sharma at deep backward point. With Sri Lanka losing both wickets, their Super Over innings ended with just two runs on the board.

Limited Action For Arshdeep Singh In Asia Cup 2025

Arshdeep Singh has had limited chances to showcase his skills at the Asia Cup 2025. Not the first-choice pacer in India’s XI, he has primarily played when Jasprit Bumrah has been rested, featuring in just two matches so far. His first appearance came in India’s final group-stage clash against Oman, where he bowled four overs for figures of 1/37.

In the Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, he claimed a wicket but conceded 46 runs in his four overs. Across the two games, Arshdeep has taken two wickets at an economy rate of 10.37 (excluding the Super Over). Despite the limited opportunities, he achieved a major milestone, becoming the first Indian bowler to take 100 or more T20I wickets.
