India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was denied a well-earned double century on Day 2 of the second Test against the West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 11. The left-hander fell victim to a run-out following a major mix-up with captain Shubman Gill. Jaiswal, who resumed on 173, ended his innings at 175 off 258 balls, including 22 boundaries.
The dismissal occurred in the 92nd over of India’s first innings and the second over of the day. Facing a fuller delivery from Jayden Seales, Jaiswal struck the ball firmly towards mid-off and called for a single. However, Gill appeared uninterested in running. Having covered almost half the pitch, Jaiswal couldn’t make it back in time.
Meanwhile, Tagenarine Chanderpaul delivered a precise throw to wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, who removed the bails at the striker’s end. Jaiswal stayed on the ground briefly as Chanderpaul lost control of the ball during the attempt. The 23-year-old was clearly frustrated with Shubman Gill for not responding to the call.
Despite the unfortunate end, this innings remains one of the highest individual scores for India in Tests that ended in a run-out. You can watch the video here:

Jaiswal’s 175 Keeps India Ahead Despite Early West Indies Breakthrough
A masterful batting performance by Yashasvi Jaiswal has kept India firmly in control against the West Indies in the second Test. At the latest update, India were 349/3 after 96 overs, with Shubman Gill and Nitish Reddy at the crease. Jomel Warrican has been the standout bowler so far, claiming two wickets.
India had dominated the series opener, winning by an innings and 140 runs to take a 1-0 lead. A series victory in this match could see them rise to second place in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings.
