After moving from the Lucknow Super Giants to the Capitals, he was supported by the former England star Kevin Pietersen, whose ultra-rigorous coaching style quickly became evident. In a friendly manner, Rahul joked about contacting Pietersen’s wife and playfully asking her to persuade her husband to be gentler with him during their practice sessions.

“Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you also, There was this video, and there were two-three times where I said something and DC posted it on Instagram. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy.'” Rahul said with a laugh.
“I said, ‘Half the things that he does to me and tells me, that doesn’t come out.’ This is three times that I have given out of the 100 times he is after my life,” Rahul revealed.
The friendship between the two cricketers was one of the best things about Delhi Capitals‘ 2025 IPL season. Fans loved seeing them talk to each other on social media. Earlier, Pietersen had criticized Rahul’s conservative style in T20s, but later he praised the Indian batter for his aggressive and match-winning performances during the season.
