India batter Harleen Deol left her teammates in splits after she playfully asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his skincare routine during the Indian women’s cricket team’s official meeting with him following their World Cup victory. What began as a formal conversation celebrating India’s historic triumph soon took a light-hearted turn, courtesy of Harleen’s spontaneous question.
During the interaction, Prime Minister Modi commended Harleen Deol for her lively personality and her knack for keeping the mood upbeat even in tense moments. In response, Harleen playfully switched roles, taking on the interviewer’s seat. Just when everyone expected a serious or cricket-related query, her unexpected question took the entire room by surprise.
“Sir, your skin is always glowing. Can you please tell me what is your skincare routine?” Harleen asked with a smile.
Her spontaneous question sparked laughter across the room, even from Prime Minister Modi himself, who chuckled and responded, “I do not think about all that.”
One of Harleen’s teammates quickly chimed in, saying, “Sir, it’s the love of millions in this country!” — a remark that drew even more laughter from everyone present.
Adding to the lighthearted moment, head coach Amol Muzumdar jokingly told the Prime Minister, “As you can see, sir, these are the personalities I have to handle and that’s why my hair has turned white.”

“Don’t Want A Photo With King Charles”- Muzumdar
Amol Muzumdar also recounted a humorous incident from India’s previous tour of England. He mentioned that the team was once given an opportunity to take photographs with King Charles, but due to protocol, only 20 individuals were allowed in one frame at a time. As a result, the entire squad and support staff couldn’t be included together.
He went on to say that the support staff jokingly remarked they wouldn’t mind skipping the photo with the King, as they were reserving that special moment for when they’d win the ODI World Cup and meet Prime Minister Modi instead.
India’s vice-captain Smriti Mandhana stated that the team approached the World Cup with a larger vision — to inspire growth and recognition for women’s sports in the country. She said their victory was not only about winning a trophy but also about changing mindsets and motivating the next generation.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed similar views while meeting the team after their historic achievement. Under Harmanpreet Kaur’s leadership, India overcame previous setbacks to defeat South Africa in the final and secure their first-ever Women’s ODI World Cup title.
