India sealed a 2-1 victory in the five-match T20I series against Australia after the final game at Brisbane’s Gabba was abandoned due to continuous rain and lightning. Although the series ended prematurely, the Indian side showcased dominant performances throughout, maintaining consistency in both batting and bowling departments.
The series also served as an important phase of preparation for India’s T20I roadmap, allowing emerging players to blend with seasoned campaigners under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership.
Team Unity and Balance Key to Success
After the series win, skipper Suryakumar Yadav spoke about the team’s overall performance and the depth of the squad. When asked whether India now had “all bases covered,” Suryakumar humbly replied, “I’m very lucky to have all these boys with different-different skills. They bring very different things to the table. When we chat around about the bowling, batting, and fielding, you must have seen a lot of energy on the ground. People enjoy when they go together on the ground.”
He emphasized how each player’s unique strengths add value to the side, creating a balance that reflects in their on-field energy and chemistry. The Indian captain also praised the team’s unity and adaptability, pointing out how mutual trust and enjoyment are driving their success.
Consistency and Learning at the Core
Reflecting on India’s consistent performances, Suryakumar mentioned that the team has been sticking to its approach for the past six to eight months. “From a batting point of view, definitely what we’ve been doing in the last six to eight months, I think we’re sticking to that, not changing anything. These guys are doing it really well,” he said.
He also credited senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah for mentoring younger bowlers, adding, “Having an experienced bowler like Bumrah around in the team and everyone chatting with him, learning a lot of skills, tricks and trade of the game, I think that’s a good thing. So there’s good friendship building up in that as well.”
The captain summed up his philosophy of constant improvement, remarking, “We are trying to get there. There’s never anything like all bases covered. We always learn from this game, every game we play. Till now things look good, touch wood, let’s continue that.” His words reflect both humility and ambition — qualities that have defined India’s spirited T20I run under his leadership.
