India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj once again displayed his skill with the ball as he bowled out South Africa for 154 on Day 3 of the first Test at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday, November 16. The pacer dramatically shattered the off-stump while removing Simon Harmer for seven in the second innings, and just a few deliveries later, trapped Keshav Maharaj lbw for a duck in the same over.
The moment occurred in the 54th over of South Africa’s innings. Siraj delivered an angled-in ball that jagged back sharply off the surface. Harmer, batting low in the order, misjudged the delivery and decided not to play at it. The ball smashed into the off-stump with such force that it split into two pieces — a sight rarely seen in modern Test cricket. You can watch the video here:

Siraj Shines Again As India Need 124 For Victory On Tough Pitch
Mohammed Siraj carried on his impressive bowling form, ending the first Test against South Africa with four wickets. The Hyderabad pacer has been in sensational rhythm this year, claiming 41 wickets in nine Tests. Earlier, he topped the bowling charts in the 2025 Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy in England with 23 wickets, and followed it up by taking 10 wickets in the recent two-Test home series against the West Indies.
In the second innings, South Africa set India a target of 124 runs. Captain Temba Bavuma held firm with a gritty unbeaten 55 off 136 balls, while Corbin Bosch added a useful 25 off 37. For India, Ravindra Jadeja led the attack with four wickets, while Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav picked up one each. At the time of writing, India were struggling at 1/2 after 2.1 overs, with Dhruv Jurel and Washington Sundar in the middle.
Marco Jansen dismissed both openers—KL Rahul for 1 and Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck. The hosts are also missing regular captain Shubman Gill, who has been sidelined with a stiff neck. Notably, the highest successful chase at Eden Gardens in Test cricket is 120, achieved by India against South Africa back in 2004.
