Team India skipper Shubman Gill, along with several senior players, reached Guwahati on Wednesday, November 19, ahead of the second Test against South Africa, scheduled to start on Saturday, November 22. India currently trail the two-match series 0-1 after a 30-run defeat in the Kolkata opener.

Gill was spotted stepping out of the airport elevator in the team’s new travel kit, accompanied by security personnel. He sported black sunglasses and a golden wristwatch.

Joining him were Sai Sudharsan, Akash Deep, KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Ravindra Jadeja, all of whom were also seen exiting the elevator under tight security.

Additionally, members of the support staff, including head coach Gautam Gambhir, were present alongside the players. They were seen leaving the airport with their baggage. You can watch the video here:

Is Shubman Gill Available For The Second Test In Guwahati?

Indian captain Shubman Gill sustained a neck injury during the first Test in Kolkata. He was taken to the hospital after being stretchered off the field during India’s first innings, having scored only four runs off three deliveries before retiring hurt. The 26-year-old did not return to the field for the remainder of the match, leaving India one batter short during their challenging chase of 124 runs in the second innings.

While many expected him to miss the second Test, the BCCI later announced that he would travel with the team to Guwahati as his recovery was progressing well. Even though Gill was deemed fit enough to travel and accompanied the squad, the board did not provide any clarity on whether he would actually play in the second Test.

“Shubman has been responding well to the medical treatment provided and will travel to Guwahati with the team on 19th November, 2025. He will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team and a decision on his participation in the 2nd Test will be taken accordingly,” a BCCI statement read. (via India Today)
