Star opener Abhishek Sharma’s car was swarmed by fans in Hyderabad after Punjab’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2025-26 match against Bengal. Punjab registered a massive 112-run victory in their Elite Group C clash on November 30. Abhishek delivered a stunning knock, scoring 148 runs off 52 balls with eight fours and 16 sixes at a strike rate of 284.61.

After the match, he left the venue in a car along with teammates Harpreet Brar and Nehal Wadhera. A huge crowd gathered around the vehicle, chanting Abhishek’s name, while police tried to control the situation. The opener appeared to enjoy the attention, and in a light-hearted moment, jokingly asked the fans to break the car as they stood extremely close.

“Todho gaddi todho gaddi. Gaddi todho. Todho todho zorr se maaro. Shabaash boys, see you bye (Break the car, break the car. Break the car. Break it, break it, hit hard. Well done boys, see you bye),” he was heard saying.

His teammate Harpreet Brar seemed to be having fun as well. In the video, he can be heard saying:

“Raje de munde ne duniya hilayi bhai [Raj’s son (Abhishek’s father’s name) shook the world].”

Abhishek Sharma’s blazing 148-run innings helped him achieve several major milestones. With 16 sixes in the knock, he became the Indian batter with the most sixes (91) in a calendar year in T20 cricket. His 16 sixes were also the second-highest by an Indian in a single T20 innings, just one short of Punit Bisht’s record of 17 in 2021.

Abhishek reached his hundred in only 32 balls, making it the third-fastest T20 century by an Indian. His score of 148 was also the second-highest individual total by an Indian in T20s, trailing only Tilak Varma’s 151 in 2024. The left-hander additionally tied Rohit Sharma for the second-most T20 centuries by an Indian.

He now has eight T20 hundreds and stands just behind Virat Kohli, who leads the list with nine.
