[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Smashes Three Consecutive Boundaries Off Nandre Burger In 2nd ODI

India’s opening batter Rohit Sharma took advantage of South Africa’s inconsistent new-ball bowling to hit three consecutive boundaries in the second ODI at Raipur on Wednesday, December 3. Both Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi struggled with their line and length early on, allowing the Men in Blue to get off to a fast start after opting to bat first.

Initially, Rohit played a supporting role as Yashasvi Jaiswal faced the bulk of the deliveries in the first four overs, often dealing with wide balls. When he finally got his turn against Nandre Burger, the right-handed opener made an immediate impact, using the left-arm pacer’s pace to his advantage.

Rohit started with a soft-handed fend that edged to the fence between slip and short third man for a boundary. He followed it up with a stylish flick through midwicket, keeping the ball along the ground with precision. The third boundary came off another outside edge that trickled past the offside infield, putting the bowler under mounting pressure.

Rohit Sharma had also hit back-to-back sixes in the first ODI, launching two powerful slog sweeps off right-arm off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen.

The experienced opener’s aggressive innings ended suddenly when he edged a delivery to wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock on the fifth ball of the fifth over. Attempting to defend a length ball, he only managed a faint outside edge that flew to the gloves behind the stumps.

The on-field umpire was unconvinced by de Kock’s appeal, leading captain Temba Bavuma to opt for a review. Ultra-edge revealed a slight spike, leaving Rohit Sharma stunned as he was dismissed for 14 runs off just eight balls.
