The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially launched ticket sales for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, introducing unprecedentedly low entry prices to ensure maximum fan participation. Phase 1 of the ticket rollout began on Thursday, with rates starting as low as Rs 100 in India and LKR 1,000 in Sri Lanka for select venues. The tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, will take place from February 7 to March 8 and will feature 20 teams competing across eight venues.
In India, the matches will be spread across Ahmedabad, Chennai, New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata, while Sri Lanka will host games in Colombo—across two stadiums—and Kandy. The ICC emphasised that making the event widely accessible is central to their planning, further highlighted by India taking on the USA on the opening day as one of the three inaugural fixtures.
ICC Aims For Most Accessible Global Cricket Event Ever
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta stressed that the opening of ticket sales marks a major step in shaping an inclusive global cricketing experience. He reiterated the organisation’s mission by saying, “Phase I of ticket sales is an important milestone in our journey towards delivering the most accessible and global ICC event ever staged. Our vision for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is clear: every fan, regardless of background, geography or financial means, should have the chance to access an in-stadia experience of world-class marquee cricket.”
Gupta added that affordability remains a key focus. “With tickets starting from just Rs 100 and LKR1000, we are putting affordability at the centre of our strategy. This is about opening the gates wide and inviting millions to be part of a global celebration of cricket, not as spectators from afar, but as active participants in the energy, emotion and magic that only a stadium can offer.” He also highlighted that the upcoming edition, featuring 55 matches, will be the “most ambitious and inclusive T20 World Cup in history.”
BCCI And SLC Welcome Fans, Highlight Event Experience
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia echoed the excitement surrounding the event, noting that economical ticket prices will significantly boost fan engagement. He stated, “With tickets starting as low as Rs 100, the excitement around the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is multiplied manifold. We are committed to creating a world-class match-day experience that reflects India’s passion for the sport, modern facilities, smooth logistics, and stadiums buzzing with energy.”
Similarly, Sri Lanka Cricket CEO Ashley de Silva expressed pride in co-hosting the prestigious tournament with India, affirming their readiness to provide a memorable spectator experience. He remarked, “We are extremely proud to co-host this prestigious event alongside India, and we eagerly look forward to welcoming fans from across the world to our stadiums. With Phase I of ticket sales now open, we encourage everyone to secure their seats early to ensure they don’t miss a single moment of the action.”
