[WATCH]- Shubman Gill And Abhishek Sharma Dine At Renowned Chandigarh Eatery Before 2nd T20I

Team India openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill were seen at a popular restaurant in Chandigarh ahead of the second T20I against South Africa on Thursday, December 11. Since the vice-captain returned from his neck injury, the two have been travelling and spending a lot of time together.

A video circulating on social media shows the duo waving at fans as they left the restaurant after their meal. Both players are quite familiar with the local food, as they are from Punjab and spent many years in the region before rising in their cricket careers. Here’s a look at Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma outside the restaurant:

When in Chandigarh!

The diners at a famous Kulcha restaurant in Chandigarh were in for a surprise on Wednesday evening, when they spotted Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma there. The local boys had come for a meal, ahead of India's second T20I in New Chandigarh.

This will be Abhishek Sharma’s first major chance to proudly represent India in front of his home crowd. Shubman Gill, however, has already played a T20I in Mohali in January 2024 during the home series against Afghanistan. He also featured in an ODI in Punjab during the 2023 home series against Australia.

India Rely On Gill To Step Up In IND vs SA Second T20I

The T20I vice-captain had an underwhelming comeback from injury, getting out for just four runs off two balls in the opening match at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The disappointing performance adds to his inconsistent run in the T20I setup, especially with the pressure increasing due to strong contenders like Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal waiting for opportunities.

Shubman Gill has played two matches at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur during the IPL, scoring a total of 36 runs in challenging conditions at an average of 18 and a strike rate of 116.13. Abhishek Sharma has appeared at the venue once, in IPL 2024, where he made 16 runs off 11 balls before getting dismissed early.
