India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, along with his wife Devisha Shetty, paid a visit to the Sri Venkateshwara Temple in Tirupati on Tuesday, December 30. The couple sought divine blessings ahead of the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand, scheduled for January 2026.

In a video released by PTI, Suryakumar and Devisha were seen surrounded by fans, with one admirer asking the cricketer to face the camera. Both were dressed in traditional attire, with Yadav wearing a pink kurta, while Devisha opted for a yellow sari.

“Sir, thoda camera dekho,” a fan requested.

While posting the video on X, the news agency wrote in the caption:

“Andhra Pradesh: Cricketer Suryakumar Yadav (@surya_14kumar), along with his wife Devisha Shetty, offers prayers at Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, Tirumala, Tirupati, on the occasion of Vaikunta Ekadashi.”

Spotlight On Suryakumar Yadav Ahead Of T20 World Cup 2026

Skipper Suryakumar Yadav will be under close scrutiny as he aims to make an impact with the bat in the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand, serving as a build-up to the 2026 T20 World Cup. The 35-year-old endured a difficult year in 2025, scoring only 218 runs across 21 T20Is (19 innings) without registering a single half-century. He averaged 13.63, struck at 123.16, and last reached the fifty-run mark 22 innings ago.

Despite his struggles with the bat, Suryakumar has enjoyed remarkable success as captain in the shortest format. Under his leadership, India have secured their sixth bilateral T20I series victory, defeating Sri Lanka (3–0), Bangladesh (3–0), South Africa (3–1), England (4–1), Australia (2–1), and South Africa again (3–1).

In addition, Yadav guided India to the Asia Cup title in 2025. He will now be keen to maintain his perfect series-winning record as India prepare to defend their T20 World Cup crown on home soil in 2026.
