Team India Set For Dinner At Gautam Gambhir’s Residence Before IND Vs NAM

The Indian team is expected to head to head coach Gautam Gambhir’s residence for a dinner get-together after kicking off their 2026 T20 World Cup campaign with a victory over the United States. With their next fixture against Namibia set to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, Gambhir’s hometown, an off-field meet-up is likely.

As per a report in the Times of India, the players and support staff are scheduled to visit Gambhir’s home as early as tomorrow, following their travel from Mumbai to Delhi.

“Entire team India & support staff to have dinner at #TeamIndia Head coach #GautamGambhir’s residence in Delhi tomorrow:) #T20WorldCup,” the report mentioned.

Gautam Gambhir had earlier hosted the Indian team for dinner ahead of the second Test against the West Indies in October 2025, with captain Shubman Gill and senior players like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja arriving together in the team bus.

Senior BCCI officials, including Rajeev Shukla, were also in attendance. The upcoming fixture will be only the second instance of India playing a white-ball match in Gambhir’s hometown since he took charge as head coach.

Earlier, the team featured in a T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi during the early phase of his tenure in 2024. Gambhir had also recently returned home following India’s 4–1 T20I series triumph over New Zealand, before later joining the squad in Mumbai for the World Cup warm-up match and the opening group-stage game.

Gautam Gambhir & Team India Stunned Early In IND vs USA T20 World Cup Match

The Men in Blue received an early reality check despite securing a hard-fought victory over the USA in Group A. Captain Suryakumar Yadav played a crucial role in steering the side to safety with a fighting half-century, contributing more than half of India’s total.

India went on to defend their 162-run target with a disciplined bowling effort, even in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. With a better net run rate, the team currently sits atop Group A and still has three matches remaining before the Super 8 stage.
