[WATCH] Team India Enjoy Dinner At Gautam Gambhir’s Residence After IND vs USA T20 World Cup 2026 Match

Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir hosted the players and support staff for dinner at his Delhi residence on Sunday, February 8. Gambhir, accompanied by his wife and children, was seen personally welcoming the squad and staff members as they arrived at his home.

The Men in Blue will next face Namibia in their 2026 T20 World Cup fixture in Delhi on Thursday, February 12. The team reached the capital earlier on Sunday after kicking off their campaign with a win over the USA in Mumbai on Saturday, February 7.

Here’s the video of Gautam Gambhir and his family greeting the players and support staff at their residence:

Gautam Gambhir has been at the helm of Team India for nearly two years, stepping into the head coach’s role after Rahul Dravid’s departure midway through 2024. While India’s performances in Tests have been largely disappointing and ODI results inconsistent, the team has flourished in the T20I format under his leadership.

Under Gambhir, India have won 30 of their 35 completed T20I matches and head into the 2026 T20 World Cup as clear favourites. The Men in Blue are aiming to make history by becoming the first side to win the T20 World Cup three times, as well as the first team to successfully defend the title and lift the trophy on home soil.

“Pure Brilliance” – Gautam Gambhir Lauds Suryakumar Yadav’s Knock Against USA

Gautam Gambhir heaped praise on captain Suryakumar Yadav for his match-winning innings against the USA in Mumbai. With wickets tumbling at the other end, Surya found himself stranded as batters came and went, leaving India in deep trouble at 77/6 in the 13th over.

However, the Indian skipper kept his composure and produced a stunning knock of 84* off 49 balls to lift India to a competitive 161/9 in their 20 overs. The total eventually proved too much for the USA, who were held to 132/8 at the end of their innings.

Reflecting on Suryakumar Yadav’s performance after the match, Gambhir said on BCCI.TV (via NDTV):

“It was a good result to start with, and Surya – that was a masterclass, outstanding. It was one of the best T20I innings played under pressure.”
