PCB Puts Forward Three Demands To ICC Amid T20 World Cup Boycott Standoff
PCB Overhauls Selection Committee Following Multan Defeat

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has laid down three firm demands to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a bid to resolve the ongoing standoff linked to Pakistan’s threat to boycott its marquee clash against India at the T20 World Cup 2026.

The impasse began after the ICC decided to remove Bangladesh from the competition following their refusal to travel to India, citing security concerns. Pakistan backed Bangladesh’s stance, triggering a fresh controversy within the global cricketing ecosystem.

According to sources, the PCB believes the ICC’s handling of the situation has been unfair and is now pushing for corrective measures before reconsidering participation in the high-profile fixture. The board’s leadership has reportedly conveyed that without these assurances, Pakistan’s involvement in the match remains uncertain.

Three Demands: Compensation, Fees, and Future Hosting Rights

The PCB’s proposal revolves around three core demands aimed at safeguarding member boards’ interests. First, Pakistan has called for enhanced financial compensation for Bangladesh, arguing that the board should not suffer monetarily for a security-driven decision. Secondly, the PCB wants Bangladesh to receive its full participation fee, even though the team was removed from the tournament lineup.

The third and most significant demand involves future hosting rights. The PCB has asked the ICC to allocate hosting privileges for an upcoming ICC event, a move seen as a long-term assurance of fairness and balance in tournament allocations. As one source stated, “These demands are meant to ensure no board is penalised for circumstances beyond cricket.”

Mohsin Naqvi’s Firm Stand and Political Consultation

While some PCB officials are reportedly open to a compromise, chairman Mohsin Naqvi remains cautious. Insiders claim Naqvi is unwilling to rush into a decision and is expected to consult Pakistan’s Prime Minister before announcing the board’s final stance. The India-Pakistan match, scheduled to be played in Colombo, adds further complexity due to its political and commercial significance.

A source close to the developments revealed, “The chairman wants absolute clarity before committing. This is not just about one match but about setting a precedent.” With discussions still ongoing, the ICC faces increasing pressure to find a middle ground that prevents further escalation while keeping the tournament on track.
