The buzz has been on the fifth gear with the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League only a few weeks away. Meanwhile, the fans are still awaiting the schedule. After a lot of dilemmas, BCCI is likely to announce the schedule on September 4 (Friday).

The cash-rich league will commence from September 19 in the UAE. BCCI had to mover the tournament out of India owing to the rise in COVID-19 cases in the country. The final of IPL 2020 will take place on November 10. Incidentally, this is the first time the grand finale of the competition will take place on a weekday.

Meanwhile, the franchises apart from Chennai Super Kings have begun training. The Super Kings are yet to start practices due to the presence of COVID-19 cases in their squad. However, things have returned to normalcy as everyone tested negative and they are set to hit the ground soon.

Meanwhile, initially, the tournament was scheduled to take place in March. However, the rise of COVID-19 pandemic had put the entire cricketing schedule in a haste. A lot of bilateral series got cancelled along with the mega ICC T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia.

This opened the doors for Sourav Ganguly and his panel to host the IPL. After a lot of discussions and the green signal from the Government of India, they are organising the tournament in the UAE.

The players will remain in a bio-secure bubble during the entire tournament. They will also undergo tests every three days as a safety measure. However, with the number of active cases comparatively less in the UAE, there are still chances of crowds attending the IPL games.
