[WATCH]- Suryakumar Yadav Falls For Golden Duck After Ravindra’s Screamer In T20 WC Final

Team India captain Suryakumar Yadav was dismissed for a golden duck in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday, March 8. The right-handed batter tried to play an attacking shot on the very first ball he faced, but Rachin Ravindra took a fine catch in the deep.

Suryakumar came in to bat at No. 5 after India lost Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the 16th over. He faced a short delivery outside the off-stump from Jimmy Neesham and attempted an unusual shot. He tried to reach the ball and send it towards the fine-leg area.

Although Suryakumar made decent contact with the ball, it did not go far enough. Ravindra moved quickly to his right at fine leg, slid along the ground, and completed a smart catch to dismiss him. Watch the video here

This was the third golden duck of Suryakumar Yadav’s T20I career. His first golden duck came in a T20I against Ireland in 2022. Later that same year, he was again dismissed on the first ball in the second T20I against Australia in Nagpur.

India slipped from 203/1 to 204/4 within one over, losing quick wickets. In the death overs, Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma struggled to time their shots against the New Zealand pacers’ slower cutters, which made scoring boundaries difficult and slowed India’s momentum towards the end.

However, Shivam Dube found his rhythm in the final over and smashed Jimmy Neesham for five boundaries, scoring 24 runs. His late burst helped India cross the 250-run mark, setting New Zealand a massive 256-run target to win their first T20 World Cup.
