The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered a sensational performance to hand the Rajasthan Royals (RR)their first defeat of the season, winning Match 21 of IPL 2026 by 14 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. After being put in to bat first on a high-scoring Hyderabad surface, the “Orange Army” capitalized on their home conditions to post a formidable total of 202/6.

The innings was ignited by a blistering start from Travis Head, who smashed 54 off just 28 balls with seven boundaries and three sixes, and Abhishek Sharma, who contributed a quick 39 off 21 balls. The momentum was expertly maintained in the middle order by Heinrich Klaasen, who remained unbeaten on 48 off 30 deliveries, while Abdul Samad provided the finishing touch with a brisk 22 off 10 balls.

On the bowling side for Rajasthan, Ravi Bishnoi was the most effective, claiming 2 for 31 in his four overs, while Jofra Archer, Sandeep Sharma, and Nandre Burger each picked up one wicket to keep the score from reaching even higher proportions. Here are some twitter reactions:

Sunrisers Hyderabad fight back to stop RR’s 203 chase

Rajasthan’s pursuit of the 203-run target began with significant confidence, led by the prolific young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who continued his excellent form with a fluent 44 off 26 balls. Captain Riyan Parag anchored the chase with a well-constructed 52 off 34 balls, including four sixes, keeping the Royals in a strong position for the majority of the innings.

Shimron Hetmyer also added a quick 16, but the SRH bowling attack, led by a masterclass from T Natarajan, struck at pivotal moments to derail the chase. Natarajan finished with clinical figures of 3 for 26, consistently nailing his yorkers in the high-pressure death overs.

Veteran Bhuvneshwar Kumar used his vast experience to finish with 1 for 29, while Jaydev Unadkat and Tushar Deshpande also chipped in with a wicket each to stifle the scoring rate. Despite a late, valiant effort from Dhruv Jurel, who scored an aggressive 32 off 18 balls, the Royals were restricted to 188/7 at the end of their 20 overs.

This result ends Rajasthan’s impressive four-match winning streak and provides Sunrisers Hyderabad with a crucial victory as they climb the points table.
