The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) continued their resurgence in IPL 2026 with a comprehensive 32-run victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday. This win marks a significant turnaround for the defending champions, while KKR remains winless after five matches, declining at the bottom of the points table.

After being put in to bat, CSK posted a formidable 192/5, thanks to a blend of youthful aggression and experienced anchoring. The CSK innings was ignited by young opener Ayush Mhatre, who played a blistering cameo of 38 runs off just 17 balls, striking at a remarkable 223.53.

His knock, which included six boundaries and two sixes, set the perfect tone in the Powerplay. Sanju Samson provided the backbone of the innings, top-scoring with a well-constructed 48 off 32 balls (4 fours, 3 sixes), while Dewald Brevis made a successful return to the side with an impactful 41 off 29 deliveries.

KKR’s bowling struggled to contain the flow of runs, though Kartik Tyagi claimed 2 for 35 and veteran Sunil Narine remained economical with figures of 1 for 21 in his four overs. Defending 192, CSK’s bowling attack, led by their spinners, proved to be too clinical for a struggling KKR lineup.

Noor Ahmad’s Milestone 3-Wicket Haul Powers CSK to Decisive Win Over KKR

Noor Ahmad was the standout performer, delivering a match-winning spell of 3 for 21 in his four overs. In the process, Ahmad reached the milestone of 50 IPL wickets, cementing his status as a premier leg-spinner in the tournament. He received excellent support from Akeal Hosein, who took 1 for 26, and Anshul Kamboj, who chipped in with 2 for 32.

KKR’s chase never truly threatened the target as they were restricted to 160/7. Aside from a brief middle-order resistance by Ramandeep Singh (35 off 23) and an unbeaten 31 off 22 from Rovman Powell, the Knights lacked the explosive partnerships needed to chase down the high total.

The loss further complicates KKR’s playoff ambitions, while CSK’s clinical 32-run win signals their return to form as they climb the ladder in the 2026 season.
