Former India player Wasim Jaffer commented on the Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) batting order ahead of their IPL 2026 match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). The match will take place on Tuesday, April 28. Wasim Jaffer also added that it would be important for RR’s openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, to step up together. He also shared an interesting opinion, claiming that Shimron Hetmyer should bat at number four, ahead of captain Riyan Parag.

“It is very important once again for Jaiswal and Suryavanshi to fire. Even the top four, be it Jurel, Riyan. I feel they should use Hetmyer better. He should bat at four and Riyan Parag should come down. You might as well use your foreign resources better. I feel they are missing a trick by not promoting Hetmyer at four,” he said on his YouTube channel. “Between Vaibhav and Jaiswal, Vaibhav has batted well, but Jaiswal has not come into flow yet. The entire limelight right now is with Vaibhav. If he gets into form, then they will become dangerous.”

Wasim Jaffer also named the Punjab Kings as favourites ahead of the match against the Rajasthan Royals. He also added that RR would have to make an early strike with the ball. Dismissing openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya could give them a chance to do well against the Punjab Kings.

“Priyansh and Prabhsimran are also important for Punjab. If RR make inroads there, then they have some hopes. Otherwise, Punjab are the favourites. The way these two are batting, they are a dangerous pair. That is why Punjab are at the top of the table. The brand of cricket Punjab is playing is very exciting,” Wasim Jaffer concluded.
