A young boy was left visibly upset after his attempt to secure an autograph from Virat Kohli was unsuccessful at the team hotel during the ongoing Indian Premier League season. According to posts shared online, the child had been waiting at the hotel reception with the hope of getting his cricket bat signed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru star.
When Kohli arrived accompanied by his security and staff, the boy tried to approach him but was stopped by security personnel. Despite onlookers urging them to allow the child through, he was ultimately unable to meet the cricketer.
The child soon broke down, crying uncontrollably, and in a moment of frustration, slammed his cricket bat onto the ground. A video of the incident, which quickly went viral online, carried the caption:
“Universe really said, not today.”

Meanwhile, some users emphasised the limitations players players face, particularly on match days. “Not every time a player can give you an autograph or meet fans because they have their own personal space and life. We have seen Virat Kohli meeting fans and giving autographs,” a user said.

Some users also criticised the child’s response. “Kids these days should learn to stop showing unnecessary tantrums. Parents watching him lose a temper like that is not right,” read one comment, while another user asked, “Can Virat give autographs to hundreds of fans? Is it humanly possible?”

Virat Kohli has long been known for taking time to interact with fans, often making an effort, even while boarding team buses or in the middle of demanding training sessions, to sign autographs and pose for selfies.
At the same time, he has occasionally spoken about the need for personal space and the “freedom of choice” when navigating constant public attention, while continuing to emphasise the importance of recognising the fans who drive the sport.
