The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) kept their playoff hopes alive with a hard-fought 9-run victory (via DLS method) over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Match 50 of IPL 2026. In a contest repeatedly interrupted by rain at the Ekana Stadium on Thursday, May 7, a monumental century by Mitchell Marshproved to be the difference, snapping Lucknow’s six-match losing streak.
Sent in to bat first, the Super Giants were propelled by a career-best performance from Mitchell Marsh. The Australian all-rounder was in sublime touch, smashing 111 runs off just 56 balls, featuring 9 boundaries and 9 towering sixes.
Marsh reached his century in just 49 deliveries, marking his second hundred in IPL history. He was well-supported by Nicholas Pooran (38 off 23) and a blistering cameo from captain Rishabh Pant, who remained unbeaten on 32 off 10 balls*. Despite the rain interruptions, LSG posted a daunting 209/3 in their allotted 19 overs.

Rajat Patidar and Tim David Lead RCB Fightback After Early Collapse Against LSG
Chasing a revised DLS target of 213 in 19 overs, RCB’s start was disastrous. Prince Yadav delivered a double-strike in the second over, dismissing Virat Kohli for a two-ball duck and Jacob Bethell for 4.
However, skipper Rajat Patidar kept the chase alive with a brilliant 61 off 31 balls, including 6 sixes. He found support from Devdutt Padikkal (34) and a late-inning explosion from Tim David, who hammered 40 off 17 balls.
The match stayed close until the 16th over, when Shahbaz Ahmed took the important wicket of David. Despite late hitting from Krunal Pandya (28*) and Romario Shepherd (23*), Royal Challengers Bengaluru could not score the remaining 20 runs in the final over.
Prince Yadav was the best bowler with figures of 3/33, while Shahbaz Ahmed picked up 2/33. With this victory, LSG moves to 6 points and remains in the hunt for the top four. Mitchell Marsh was rightfully named Player of the Match for his match-winning ton.
