R Ashwin’s Remark At Vijay Oath Ceremony Gains Attention After TVK’s Win

Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin amused fans online with a light-hearted remark during the oath ceremony of Vijay, who was sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on Sunday. Vijay’s party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, made a strong electoral debut in the 2026 state elections by winning 108 seats.

The actor-turned-politician took charge as Chief Minister after forming a coalition government that also includes the Congress party. During the ceremony, Ashwin humorously pointed out a security personnel who looked similar to Anshul Kamboj of the Chennai Super Kings, a moment that quickly caught attention on social media.

“Duty always comes first, but on a must-win match day #CSKVLSG, it’s a bit too much. It’s a day game, get a cab & get to Chepauk ASAP, Anshul Kamboj. Big game,” Ashwin posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Coming to the match, an unchanged Chennai Super Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday.

CSK Target Crucial Win As LSG Arrive After Breaking Losing Streak

A win for Chennai Super Kings, who are currently placed sixth on the points table, would boost their chances of qualifying for the playoffs, while bottom-placed Lucknow Super Giants come into the match after ending a six-game losing streak with a nine-run victory over defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

After winning the toss, CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad said the pitch had been under covers and, with rain around, it was an easy decision to bowl first on a red-soil surface.

“The wicket was under covers and there was rain around. The pitch does behave differently in day games, but we need to adapt well and then restrict them to a low score. Pretty positive on the way the last 7-8 games have gone for us. It’s been a good turnaround and we’ll look to stay positive,” he said.

Rishabh Pant, the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, confirmed that Josh Inglis and Avesh Khan have been included in the playing XI, replacing Arshin Kulkarni and Mayank Yadav.

“We would have bowled first as well. And We need to win all games, but we must be consistent and play some good cricket. We have had our moments and chances, but we didn’t finish it. We have to give 200% in every game,” he said.
