Former India player turned commentator Aakash Chopra has questioned the Mumbai Indians (MI) for giving the final over in their IPL 2026 clash against the RCB to Raj Angad Bawa as well. He added that the person who decided to give that over to the non-regular bowler, and not the youngster, should be blamed for the defeat as well.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “Why did Raj Angad Bawa bowl the last over? I didn’t understand the logic behind him bowling that over for the simple reason that Ghazanfar’s over was left. If Ghazanfar’s over is left, you will go towards him. Romario Shepherd, who couldn’t hit Digvesh Rathi in the last match, was facing.”

“Raj Angad doesn’t always bowl even in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His first over in this match was okay. It was an eight-run over, but he had conceded 16 runs in his second over. Why would you go towards him for the 20th over? He bowled 10 balls. It wasn’t his mistake. The kid has just started playing. The mistake was of the one who thought he should be given the last over,” he added. “If Ghanzanfar had been hit for sixes, so be it, but he is Ghazanfar. He is an international bowler. He had an over left, and you didn’t go to him – very, very surprising.”

However, Aakash Chopra also questioned Suryakumar Yadav for not using Raghu Sharma with the ball in MI’s IPL 2026 clash against RCB as well.

“Since the Impact Player rule has come, it has happened twice in IPL history that you took an Impact Sub, but you didn’t make him bowl or bat. You took him, but you didn’t make him bowl. It happened with Shardul Thakur that day. It happened with Raghu Sharma here,” he said. “So, the brain trust that is sitting outside, what are they guiding? Fast bowlers were causing trouble, and Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma hadn’t together bowled eight overs. Romario Shepherd had bowled well here. You had Shardul, but you didn’t bring him in,” Chopra concluded.
