Its time for redemption. A lot has happened since 2013 and Sreesanth had to pay the price losing seven prime years of his career. The animatic fast bowler is now aiming a return to the Kerala set-up after his ban got over recently. Meanwhile, head coach of the Kerala Ranji side has cleared that Sreesanth will have to show form and fitness before making a comeback.
The biggest shock in his eventful career came in 2013. Delhi Police had to arrest him along with Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan for match-fixing charges. While many thought Sreesanth’s career was over, it was far from over in his mind. He was taking small strides to fight the battle and return to doing what he loves the most.
Sreesanth needs to form and fitness – Kerala head coach
Finally, in 2019 the Supreme Court upheld his guilt but asked the BCCI to reduce his quantum of punishment. Later the BCCI had reduced his life ban to seven years which got over a couple of days back. Speaking on his return, Kerala coach Tinu Yohannan has left the door open for Sreesanth subject to form and fitness.

“Sreesanth has shown the keenness to play by training hard and keeping himself fit,” Kerala coach Tinu Yohannan told ESPNcricinfo. “We’ve been in touch [with him]. We will consider him, but it will depend on his form and fitness. But the door is open,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sreesanth has been training extensively in his makeshift gym at home and in the nearby ground. Recently, he was spotted practising with the Kerala Under-23 side after the country-wide lockdown was lifted.
It will be interesting to see if Sreesanth still has the zeal in him to make the ball talk. However, with BCCI still in dilemma over hosting domestic competitions due to COVID-19 pandemic, it remains to be seen when Sreesanth makes a return to the cricket field.
