Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar stirred controversy with his distasteful comments on Virat Kohli involving Anushka Sharma during Royal Challengers Bangalore’s game against Kings XI Punjab. The renowned actress and producer Anushka Sharma has come out and bashed Gavaskar for his comments.
Incidentally, in the commentary box, Gavaskar came up with a comment involving Virat’s actor wife Anushka. The remark was in bad taste and did not go down well with the Indian skipper’s fans.
Incidentally, it was all-in-all a bad day for Royal Challengers Bangalore and their skipper Virat Kohli. After missing two sitters on the field, Kohli accounted for just one run with the bat. On top of it, he received a fine of Rs 12 lakhs for slow-over rate offence during Punjab’s innings.
Anushka blasts Sunil Gavaskar
Seeking an opportunity, Sunil Gavaskar made a very inappropriate comment from the commentary box. Over the years, on quite a few instances, the Bollywood actress has been blamed whenever the now 31-year-old Kohli under-performed on the cricket field.
All hell break loose on Friday as Anushka Sharma took to Instagram to blast Sunil Gavaskar for his comments.
“That, Mr Gavaskar, your comment is distasteful is a fact but I would love for you to explian why you thought of making such a sweeping statement on a wife accusing her for her husband’s game?” Anushka wrote on Instagram.

I’m sure over the years you have respected the private lives of every cricketer while commentating on the game. Don’t you think you should have equal respect for me and us?
I’m sure you can have many other words and sentences in your mind to use to comment on my husband’s performance from last night or are your words only relevant if you use my name in the process?
It’s 2020 and things still don’t change for me. When will I stop getting dragged into cricket and stop being used to pass sweeping statements? Meanwhile, this is not the first time fans and commentators have targetted Anushka Sharma. Every time Kohli has failed to step up on the field, the actress has been the target. She has tried to keep calm and not respond, but the barriers broke today.
