Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper was fined Rs 12 lakhs for slow over-rate against Kings XI Punjab in match six of IPL 2020. This happened after RCB lost the game against Kings XI Punjab by a margin of 97 runs. This was RCB’s first offence of the reason related to ICC’s protocol relating to minimum over-rate offences
The first innings lasted for an hour and 51 minutes after Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. RCB bowled up front with three pacers, Dale Steyn, Umesh Yadav and Navdeep Saini. Also when under the pump from KL Rahu, Kohli took a lot of time setting the right field. However, all of it was in vain as Rahul plundered the RCB attack to all corners of the stadium.
Virat Kohli & RCB Bundled Out For 109
The RCB innings meanwhile, was not a long one as they were just bundled out for 109 chasing 207 for victory. Skipper Virat Kohli was dismissed for just 1 off 5 deliveries in the chase. Aaron Finch (20) and AB De Villiers (28) failed to get going when it required for the RCB.
RCB kept losing wickets right from the start and in the process did not get any momentum into their chase. Young KXIP spinners Ravi Bishnoi and Murugan Ashwin shared six wickets among themselves to break the RCB chase open. While Bishnoi dismissed Finch, Ashwin accounted for AB De Villiers. Virat Kohli was dismissed by Windies pacer Sheldon Cottrell, who has been shown a lot of faith by the team management. The left-armer has potentially kept out Afghan spin sensation Mujeeb ur Rahman from the starting XI for Punjab.
KXIP after this huge win currently lead the points table and will face the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday in Sharjah.
