The Kings XI Punjab vs Royal Challengers Bangalore was expected to be a close contest. After winning their last game RCB were touted as the favourites in the match.

However, once the match began it was all about KXIP and their skipper KL Rahul. The opening batsman played one of the great IPL innings of all time. After missing out on the last match Rahul looked determined to contribute from ball one.

He paced his knock exceptionally and when was time to put the hammer down he didn’t disappoint. After from the two chances he gave which Virat Kohli dropped it was a masterful inning.

KL Rahul lauds all-round team performance

He made 132 of 69 balls and registered the highest ever score by an Indian player in IPL history. Apart from Yuzvendra Chahal no other RCB bowler had respectable figures. Kings XI Punjab ultimately posted a gigantic total of 206 after their 20 overs.

The RCB chase never took flight as all their premier batsman were knocked over early. All the RCB batsmen had an unforgettable day.

The KXIP bowlers attacked them with hard lengths that proved to match-defining in the end. Later the spinners further squeezed the RCB batsmen and the Kings XI recorded a comprehensive victory.

In the end, KXIP won by a massive margin of 98 runs. For his outstanding knock, Punjab skipper was awarded the player of the match.

Here’s what KL Rahul had to say after the win against RCB:

KL Rahul said, “As a leader, it’s important to lead from the front. It’s a complete team performance, really happy. I told Maxi that I am not feeling completely in control of my batting, he said you must be joking, you are hitting really well. During the toss is the only time I feel like a captain and otherwise I balance being a player and the captain”. 

“The analyst, coach and the management will be happy. I watched the U-19 World Cup. He (Ravi Bishnoi)  has a lot of fight in him. He’s always ready when I throw the ball. He wants to get into the contest”, Rahul said in the post-match presentation.
