Delhi Capitals spinner R Ashwin was again at his’mankading’ game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai in match 19 of IPL 2020. He warned RCB opener Aaron Finch, who was way out of his batting crease before Ashwin was even close to his delivery stride. Verry cheekily the Delhi off-spinner warned Finch, which became the moment of the match on Monday evening. Delhi Capitals ultimately won the game by 59 runs to go on top of the table.
The incident happened between the third and the fourth ball of the third over of the RCB innings. It was Devdutt Padikkal on strike with R Ashwin just pulling out from nearly mankading Finch at the bowler’s end.
R Ashwin Warns About ‘Mankading’ on Twitter
Ashwin, who is very active on social media in recent times took to Twitter immediately after the game, to send out an official warning. He even tagged Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting and his good friend Aaron Finch in this tweet as well.

The first instance of mankading in the IPL was seen in the 2019 edition. R Ashwin ran-out Jos Butter after the latter was way out of the crease before the Indian test specialist even bowled his delivery. It created a huge uproar and was debated by many cricket experts throughout the season. Ashwin was leading the Kings XI Punjab las year before Delhi Capitals traded him before the IPL 2020 auctions. Though Ashwin was at the receiving end of a lot of criticism, after the incident, he stood firm on his opinion about mankading saying that it is within the rules of the game of cricket.

Meanwhile, before the start of the tournament this year, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting made it very clear that he would not encourage something like mankading and also said that he had a conversation with Ashwin regarding the same as well.
After their comfortable win over RCB, Delhi’s IPL campaign marches on in 2020. They will face Rajasthan Royals next in Sharjah on Friday, October 9.
