Yesterday the Kolkata Knight Riders registered an exceptional win over CSK in IPL 2020. KKR spinner’s Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy complimented each other extremely well and kept constant pressure on CSK batsmen.

In the end, KKR won by 10 runs at Abu Dhabi in an important clash. However before the match, many were surprised with the exclusion of Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm unorthodox spinner would have been extremely handy on the Abu Dhabi track but KKR chose to bench him.

Kyle Mills Reveals Why Kuldeep Yadav Was Left Out Against CSK

Post the win against CSK, the bowling coach Kyle Mills gave away the reason of Kuldeep not featuring in the match. He stated that the combination of the side and dimensions of the ground were the main causes of not playing Kuldeep.

“Kuldeep is one of the best spinners in the world. But just with the make-up of the group at the moment and the size of grounds, it’s the reason we went for this XI today and Kuldeep was left out,” Mills said in the post-match press conference.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav hasn’t been at his best in IPL 2020 so far. The chinaman’s body language suggests that he is low on confidence thus hasn’t been able to make noteworthy contributions. In the first 3 matches this season, Kuldeep could only pick up a single wicket in a total of just 9 overs.

Moreover, Kyle Mills also added that Kuldeep Yadav has been training extremely hard and is keen to return in the KKR squad.

“I guess the competition is good, isn’t it? We’ve got a very big squad, a very competitive squad for certain spots within the group and Kuldeep has missed out the last two games, but he has a presence within the group, he is still giving to the team”.

But Kuldeep is training the house down, he wants to get back into the starting XI and so competition within the group is certainly aiding our performance on the park,” Mills further said.

The Kolkata Knight Riders will now take on the Kings XI Punjab in an afternoon match on Saturday at Abu Dhabi.
