Sunil Narine’s bowling action came under the scanner after the on-field umpire reported against it after KKR’s win over Kings XI Punjab on October 10th. Though he is allowed to bowl, he is kept on a warning and will be disallowed to bowl in the tournament if one his action is reported once again. Sunil Narine won two back to back matches for KKR by his brilliant spell of bowling to bring Kolkata’s IPL 2020 journey back on track.

Meanwhile, the KKR management is surprised after the mystery spinner’s action was reported once again. Narine’s action was last reported in 2015, which was later cleared by SRASSC, an ICC accredited facility.

Now the management is surprised after the on-field umpires reported against his bowling action once again.

“This came as a surprise to the franchise and Mr. Narine, considering he has played over 115 games in the IPL since 2012 and as many as 68 games since 2015, when he was last reported during the IPL season for a suspect action before being subsequently cleared completely by SRASSC, an ICC accredited facility” KKR’s official statement read.

They were all the more surprised because he had already played six matches in the tournament with no questions being raised on his action at all. KKR’s official statement referred to the same as well.

“Furthermore, he was playing his 6th game this season, with no concerns expressed formally or informally by the match officials so far” it said.

However, the KKR statement also said that they respect the IPL guidelines and will cooperate accordingly in this matter.

“We are respectful of the process that the IPL has put in place to have his action reviewed, and are working closely with the IPL in this matter. We are hopeful that there would be an appropriate resolution quickly” the statement finally said.

Sunil Narine to Miss KKR’s Clash vs RCB ?

Sunil Narine’s action being reported has brought his participation in KKR’s next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore into question. Alongside him, there are also question marks on Andre Russell’s availability after the big-hitting all-rounder coped up with a knee injury while fielding against Kings XI Punjab. Russell has had major issues with his knee in the past and it has come back to haunt him once again.

Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah today, in just two hours’ time.
