The Kolkata Knight Riders are currently facing the Kings XI Punjab at Abu Dhabi in IPL 2020. Batting first KKR put on a competitive 164 runs on the board. In the run chase in the second over itself, KKR experienced a massive setback.

Their premier all-rounder Andre Russell jammed his knee while he was trying the stop a boundary after dropping a catch. KXIP skipper KL Rahul miscued a lofted drive and Russell was in business to take the catch who was standing at mid-off.

Russell ran back to take the important catch but was unable to hold on. After he grassed the catch, Russell tried saving the boundary and showed commitment by putting a desperate dive.

Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders physio immediately rushed onto the field to examine Russell’s injury. To the naked eye, it seemed Russell has once again hurt his fragile knee as he hobbled to the pavilion with disappointment on his face.

Furthermore, it hasn’t been a fruitful IPL edition so far for the destructive batsman. In the first innings, Russell came out to bat during the slog overs but failed to create any impact. Russell was caught behind the stumps for just 5 as he lost his shape trying to hit a six over extra cover.

Now, it will be interesting to see how severe the damage to Andre Russell is and whether he will be able to take any further part in the match or not.
