Qualifier 1 will see defending champions Mumbai Indians lock horns with Delhi Capitals on November 5 (Thursday) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. Ahead of the tie, Sanjay Bangar has issued a warning to the defending champions.
Although Delhi Capitals lost four matches on a trot before winning the final league game to secure a playoff berth, they have played some good cricket throughout IPL 2020. Their bowling boasted by the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Ravichandran Ashwin has been one of the best in the competition.
Delhi Capitals can challenge Mumbai – Sanjay Bangar
The batting has also done reasonably well with Shikhar Dhawan leading the charge from the front. Former India coach Sanjay Bangar feels the kind of combination Delhi Capitals have make them a strong team to challenge the defending champions Mumbai Indians.
The Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals finished second in the points table with eight wins from 14 games. Although two of their six losses came against Mumbai Indians, they will look to draw confidence from their convincing win against RCB for the Mumbai heist.
“Success early on, failures were in the latter half of the tournament, and then a very good match to qualify for and play in the second spot,” Sanjay Bangar said on Star Sports.
“I believe that the kind of combination they have of good, young, experienced Indian batsmen, a battery of overseas fast bowlers and Indian spinners, that is a good mix of experience, pace, youth and then, if there’s one team that can challenge Mumbai Indians, it’s Delhi Capitals. So, be aware Mumbai Indians, it’s not going to be easy,” the 48-year-old concluded.
