After a stellar effort with the bat, Steve Smith produced a superman like-effort to dismiss Shreyas Iyer in the 2nd ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. As a result, Australia once again put India on the back in the heavy run chase for the second time in the same number of ODIs.
Chasing a mammoth total of 390 runs, Indian batters recuperated well from the first match and produced a good effort. Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal got off to a flying start before Australia pegged back in with two back to back wickets.
Steve Smith takes a superman-like catch
Reeling at 60 for two, skipper Virat Kohli took over the onus and steered the run chase alongside Shreyas Iyer. He pierced the gaps easily while the odd boundaries kept coming to keep India in the hunt. Kohli was slowly looking to shift gears but an untimely departure of Iyer courtesy a brilliant catch from Steve Smith halted the progress.

The incident took place in the 24th over when Moises Henriques bowled a slower ball into the pitch at 109kph. It got slower as the ball reached Iyer and he thought he can find the boundary over the infield through mid-wicket. Steve Smith flew to his left in the circle to break a really good partnership worth 93 runs.
Anything Smith touched is turning into gold. Shreyas Iyer had to play through with Virat Kohli, but he’s thrown it away just as the duo were picking up pace.

Batting first, Aaron Finch and David Warner got to their respective fifties and added a 142-run partnership as Indian bowlers continue to search for wickets with the new ball. Though they went in succession Steve Smith ensured that Australia didn’t let the advantage slip and scored at a brisk rate.
Marnus Labuschange played the ideal foil and there was another 100+ association with Smith. Glenn Maxwell applied the finishing touches to the innings with his whirlwind knock of 63 off 29 balls as Australia posted a monumental target of 390 runs.
