Michael Vaughan has picked an all-rounder that several franchisees will have an eye on in the IPL auction. The former England captain is thoroughly impressed with the way Glenn Maxwell performed in the ODI series against India. Vaughan has separated Maxwell to be a major attraction for all the franchises when the next IPL auction is conducted.

Maxwell looked woefully out of nick in IPL 2020 while playing for Kings XI Punjab. However, his form in international cricket remained world-class as he made a statement against a strong Indian side. Maxwell had scores of 45, 63* and 59 in 3 matches and played a crucial role in helping his side clinch the ODI series 2-1.

Most Teams Will Look For Maxwell In The IPL Auction- Michael Vaughan

Vaughan believes that presently every white ball team would want to have Glenn Maxwell in their squad. The former cricketer also pointed out that Australia used him correctly in the series and allowed him to flourish in the last 15 overs. Vaughan added that Maxwell showed always be batting in the lower middle order as he is at his best in the death overs with the bat.

“I don’t think there is any white-ball team in the world that wouldn’t want Maxwell. I’m pretty sure next time in the IPL auction, most of the teams will look for Maxwell. Look what Australia have done, they have found the right place for him at no. 7, and I don’t think they’ll move him too much unless obviously, they get off to the fliers”, Michael Vaughan told Cricbuzz.

“I think they have found his role in the last 15 overs. They feel that’s when he is at his best when he can go out there and pretty much go from ball one. That’s when is he is having his most effects”, he added.

Further, Michael Vaughan also lauded Maxwell the fielder who more often than not ends up saying 10 runs in the field. Maxwell also bowled regularly in the series and even troubled the batsmen at times which now makes him an ideal white ball all-rounder.

“I think his fielding is pretty much guaranteed that he is going to probably save 5 to 10 runs in the field. So, he is already in my eyes when he goes out to bat, on 10. I mention that most of the batsmen start on nought, Maxwell starts on 10 because he is that good in the field”.

“As I said no team in the world wouldn’t want Glenn Maxwell with what he brings all around. His love for the game and I don’t see people realizing how much of cricket tragic he is. He idealizes and adores the game. Now he has found his mojo for the Aussie one-day side. I feel he is going to have a consistent time over the next couple of years for Australia”, said Michael Vaughan about Maxwell.
