Star Indian batsman Suresh Raina who was left out from the limited overs squad for the Sri Lanka series will now feature in All India Coromandel King Moin-ud Dowlah Trophy for Air India. However, Raina was quite optimistic about his selection and was seen training hard at ahead of the team selection. But, chief selector MSK Prasad and his selection panel saw better options in the youngsters.
Raina along with India nationals Jayant Yadav and Naman Ojha will participate in the tournament confirmed Air India manager. “Raina’s, Yadav’s and Ojha’s participation is confirmed,” said Manoj Sharma, Air India’s manager, while speaking to The New Indian Express. However, the organizers of the tournament Hyderabad Cricket Association have not confirmed their participation.
The southpaw was seen training hard in the nets of Kanpur to keep himself fit and he kept his fans updated about his training sessions by posting short video clips on social media sites. Along with Raina, Rajat Bhatia and Manvinder Bisla will don the Air India jersey strengthening team’s middle-order and making them a strong title contender.
A total of 10 teams will be fighting it out for the trophy which is scheduled from August 22-31. Two teams from Hyderabad will take part in the tournament, one of them being led by Ambati Rayadu.
There are speculations about Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh also taking part in the tournament however their participation is not yet confirmed. “It has not been confirmed yet. But, there is a chance that he (Yuvraj) and Harbhajan Singh might also join (Air India) in the days to come,” concluded Manoj.
