[WATCH] Shubman Gill Reaches Hundred with Elegant Boundary vs Afghanistan

Team India skipper Shubman Gill produced a breathtaking century against Afghanistan in the second ODI in Lucknow on June 17. Continuing his scintillating run of form, he brought up his ninth ODI hundred in the 50-over format, further strengthening his reputation as one of the most consistent young batters.

Coming off a match-winning unbeaten 84 in the first ODI, Gill looked in sublime touch from the moment he arrived at the crease after India lost Yashasvi Jaiswal in the second over. The right-hander played a series of exquisite strokes on his way to the milestone, hitting 12 boundaries and two towering sixes.

Gill reached the three-figure mark with a superb boundary off Bilal Sami, guiding the ball through backward square leg. He celebrated the achievement by removing his helmet and bowing in his trademark style to acknowledge the applause. Head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen delighted in the dressing room, while teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Kuldeep Yadav rose to applaud the milestone.

Ishan Kishan Ends Three-Year Wait with First Century Since 2023

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan marked his return to the Indian side with a powerful century in Lucknow. He came to the crease after Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Rashid Khan and initially took time to settle before shifting gears after reaching his half-century.

From there, Kishan accelerated rapidly, scoring 53 runs off just 19 deliveries to bring up his hundred. He reached the milestone by driving a wide delivery from Sami through the backward point boundary with a well-timed stroke.

Visibly relieved, Kishan removed his helmet to celebrate the landmark, while captain Shubman Gill congratulated him with a smile. At the time of writing, India were 307/2 after 36 overs, with Gill and Kishan dominating the Afghan bowling attack.
