Initially, Prithvi Shaw’s inclusion in the first Test copped severe criticisms but the management showed faith in him. But the youngster from Mumbai failed to live up to the trust against quality pace attack. India were bowled out for 36 – their lowest Test score in history, thanks to the havoc caused by Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins which scripted an emphatic eight-wicket victory for the hosts.

While Shaw is unlikely to find a place in India’s XI for the second Test, he will be hoping for a turnaround if he manages to get a chance in the Boxing Day encounter at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
