Former Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has broken his silence on the Ajinkya Rahane-Virat Kohli captaincy debate in Test cricket. Rahane recently led India to one of their most memorable Test win in Melbourne in the absence of Virat Kohli. Since then Rahane has been getting back up to be nominated as the Test captain of the Indian cricket team from various quarters. Meanwhile, speaking on the same, Tendulkar said that no individual comes before country, thereby dismissing any comparisons between the two of them.
Talking to PTI, Sachin Tendulkar said team and country are above every other comparison. Meanwhile, Virat is India’s most successful Test captains with 33 win in only 56 matches with win percentage of over 50.
No Individual Comes Before Country: Sachin Tendulkar
“People shouldn’t get into comparisons with Virat. Ajinkya has different personality. His intent was aggressive. I would like to remind everyone that they are both Indians and they both play for India, so no individuals comes above India. Team and country is above everything else,” he told PTI.

Meanwhile, Rahane has led India in three matches so far and won all three of them. The latest win came in Melbourne, which is now India’s most successful overseas venue in Test cricket with four wins. Rahane thus has maintained his 100 percent record as captain.
Ajinkya Rahane’s name was recently engraved for the second time on the MCG Honours Board after he hit his second Test ton at this venue. Meanwhile, Kohli’s name has been written only once when he got his Test century back in 2014.
The Indian team management is meanwhile thinking hard on selections ahead of the third Test in Sydney. After Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav also has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests. Shardul Thakur is most likely to replace the right-arm pacer. There are also talks of T Natarajan getting his maiden Test cap as well.
