Star Team India batsman KL Rahul has been ruled out of the remainder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a sprain on the left-arm. The visitors have been marred with injuries in the ongoing series and Rahul is an addition to the long list.
Rahul sprained his left wrist while batting in the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during Team India’s practice session on January 2 (Saturday). The wicketkeeper-batsman will not be available for the remaining two Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy as he will need about three weeks time to recover completely and regain full strength.

Despite his brilliant form in the limited-overs leg against the Aussies, Rahul has not managed to break into the side for the first two Tests. There were rumours that KL Rahul might come in the middle-order in place of Hanuma Vihari in the third contest but the talented batsman will have to wait for more for his Test comeback.
Meanwhile, speaking of the game, Indian cricketers travelled to Sydney on Monday after testing negative for coronavirus. They will return to training to gear up for the penultimate match of the series as India look to take an unassailable lead in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit Sharma will return to action after recovering full fitness and it will be interesting to see where he fits in the batting order.
The third Test between India and Australia will commence on January 7 (Thursday) at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
