Shoaib Akhtar is at it again and he has made another sensational statement which will leave you astonished. The former Pakistan cricketer has now claimed that the great Ab de Villiers started crying when he was batting against Mohammad Asif.

Akhtar recalled that the likes of De Villiers and even former India great VVS Laxman were clueless while facing Mohamad Asif. Pakistan fast bowler was considered as one of the most skilled bowlers of all time. Asif destroyed his career after he was involved in a spot-fixing scandal in England way back in 2010.

Mohammad Asif even bigger than Wasim Akram- Shoaib Akhtar

Nonetheless, Asif truly was a wizard with the ball in hand and he troubled several great batsmen. Akhtar has revealed that during the world Test championship, De Villiers started to cry when he had the hard task to face Asif. He further added that Asif was even more potent than Wasim Akram who is the leading wicket-taker for Pakistan in Tests and ODIs.

“Even bigger than Wasim Akram, the guy that I’ve seen bowling is Mohammad Asif. I have actually seen batsmen crying while facing Asif. Laxman once said ‘how will I face this guy’, AB de Villiers literally started crying during the Asian Test Championship,” Akhtar said to Sports Today.

Meanwhile, Akhtar has often expressed his disappointment over the bowling standards of today’s era. However, there is one fast bowler whom Akhtar rates very highly. The former cricketer stated that like Asif, Jasprit Bumrah is also a very smart bowler. Akhtar continued that Bumrah has all the tools and is the most complete fast bowler at present in the world.

“But I think after Asif, Bumrah is the smartest fast bowler presently. People were doubtful about his fitness in Test cricket, even I was watching him closely. He has a quick bouncer, is deceptive and sharp and a good character this guy is”, Akhtar said.
