The mini-auction ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place on February 18th in Chennai. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) narrowed down on Chennai because the Test series between India and England will take place during that time at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Meanwhile, there were reports that BCCI might hold a full-fledged auction ahead of this season of IPL. However, due to shortage of time, BCCI went against it and settled for a mini-auction in IPL 2021. They are likely to host a mega auction next year when they plan to add one more team to the IPL sphere.
