Pakistan’s Babar Azam has beaten Indian skipper Virat Kohli in a recent ICC poll. The Pakistan all-format skipper and his Indian contemporary are considered among the modern greats of the game of cricket in recent times. While Kohli has been playing over a decade, Azam has risen up the ranks to become Pakistan’s premier batsmen in the last four to five years. Babar had maintained an average of over 50 in all three formats till very recently.
Meanwhile, the ICC in a recent poll asked who among Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Kane Williamson and Babar himself possed the best cover drive in the game of cricket. All four batsmen are considered among the modern greats and captains of their respective national teams.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the contest with a 46 percent vote leaving the other three behind. Azam edged Kohli out by a margin of 0.1 percent votes. While Kohli had 45.9 percent people in his favour, Babar got the support of 46 percent. Kane and Root, both of whom are among the best batsmen did not get many votes.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli is back as the skipper of the team in the Test series against England which started on Friday in Chennai. The visitors are batting first after winning the toss. The Indian team have fielded a five-man bowling attack in the first Test.

The management has ignored Kuldeep Yadav yet again. He did not play in any of the Test matches against Australia and did not start in Chennai either. Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun said the England series will be Kuldeep’s opportunity to bowl.
However, Washington Sundar and Shabaz Nadeem was picked for the first Test alongside Ravichandran Ashwin. Meanwhile, Axar Patel was ruled out of the first Test, which was the reason behind Nadeem’s inclusion.
