England fast bowler Olly Stone, who is only playing his 2nd Test struck early to remove Shubman Gill to put his side on top early in the 2nd match against India at the Chepauk Stadium. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first on a slowish Chennai wicket.

Olly Stone strikes early for England
With crowds returning to the stadium for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic and cheering for every ball, India expected to make a strong start and lay the foundation for a big first-innings score. On the other hand, England also looked well-equipped with Stuart Broad, playing his first Test of the series, hitting the right areas from the word go.

After a maiden first over, England soon made inroads as Olly Stone removed Shubman Gill only in his third delivery to draw the first blood. Gill has misjudged the ball completely and offered no shot. An in-swinger that came back in after pitching, Shubman Gill offers his front pad and raised his bat thinking it would shape away.
It rapped his bat and umpire Nitin Menon raises his finger without any hesitation and yes, that was plumb. The youngster does have a chat with Rohit Sharma for a review but the senior batsman confirms that it was out and Gill walked back to the hut. Brilliant start from Olly Stone.
